Orphée aux enfers – you will laugh out loud
24 July at 7pm, 26 and 30 July, 1 August at 6pm
Witty, irreverent and wildly entertaining.
An operetta, which parodies Greek mythology, poking fun at serious opera traditions, as well as at French 19th century politics and the boredom of bourgeois marriage.
The characters are larger than life – with a flamboyant Jupiter, a sassy Euridice and a totally unimpressive Orpheus.
The score is tuneful, playful and always serving the comedy. And all culminates with the famous Galop infernal (the Can-Can)
