We are delighted to welcome Nandor Szederkényi as our new concert master. He began his artistic career in Budapest, where he won first prize at the Szigeti International Violin Competition 1979 and the national Hubay prize. He has performed as a soloist in Germany, Belgium, Italy and France. As winner of the CBC National Radio Auditions, he spent a successful period in Canada after which he became concert master of Century Orchestra Osaka, Japan.
His recordings include many newly discovered works by various composers, such as the Trio “Le Londres” by Ysaÿe with soloists of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, as well as transcriptions and recordings of orchestral and keyboard masterpieces for violin/harp duo or violin solo.
Here is a link to his recording of his own transcription of J.S. Bach’s Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue.
