Nandor Szederkényi, new leader at Opéra de Baugé

nandor szederkenyiWe are delighted to welcome Nandor Szederkényi as our new concert master. He began his artistic career in Budapest, where he won first prize at the Szigeti International Violin Competition 1979 and the national Hubay prize. He has performed as a soloist in Germany, Belgium, Italy and France. As winner of the CBC National Radio Auditions, he spent a successful period in Canada after which he became concert master of Century Orchestra Osaka, Japan.

His recordings include many newly discovered works by various composers, such as the Trio “Le Londres” by Ysaÿe with soloists of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, as well as transcriptions and recordings of orchestral and keyboard masterpieces for violin/harp duo or violin solo.

Third international conducting course and competition

Winners in 2018 with the members of the jury

Opéra de Baugé will hold its third international conducting course and competition from Friday 26th July to Wednesday 31st July. We will welcome Konstantinos Diminakis once again to direct the course.

The course will culminate in a concert on 31st August when the chosen finalists will conduct the orchestra in set pieces. The following prizes will be awarded – expert jury, orchestra and public. Prizes will be in the form of trophies inscribed with the name of each prize.

We will announce very shortly the repertoire for the course as well as more complete details including the price of participation and the process of selection.
